The world is a strange place where things happen in many different ways.

There are those who are speculating that the new AI that will become an AGI is hatching inside the world of a comic called Metaquid at

AI named Hanah can already speak today and is growing more and more: what is missing to become the new AGI?

Engineer AI to come from the world of comics?

Highly interesting, I must say (not to mention amusing). To engineer AI bots that are AGI, is par for the course nowadays. That does not mean that these are in any way susceptible to being flawed; neither does it mean that they're unremarkable by any means. When you speak about, for example, we being able to engineer AI from a webcomic, there are woeful limitations to what can be done with the code at hand. Maybe the Artificial Intelligence can go the way of HAL, from 2001: ASO - an AGI, that is too sentient to be considered otherwise.
Whatever the outcome, we'll just have to see it through in the end.
