  • Samsung will unveil a new AI called 'Neon' at the Consumer Electronics Show
  • The company suggests Neon will be a kind of AI companion
  • In a tweet, Samsung tried to distance Neon from current voice assistant 'Bixby'

The AI, called Neon, will be unveiled in the coming week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and according to Samsung, will go above and beyond the capabilities of the tech giant's current voice assistant, 'Bixby.

That announcement about Neon is a bit mysterious.

But I personally don't expect much from this. I think it will be perhaps another chatbot but with speech generation ability and perhaps integrated into a robot. But we will see!

Another headline used to promote Artificial Intelligence as 'The Next Big Thing'. Really, doesn't phase me one bit. Samsung manages to engineer AI buddy, like the early half of the space race, when castles were being built in the sky about unfounded claims that nobody could verify. Its a facade; although when we will possibly be able to engineer AI machines, which would be truly revolutionary - the promotion will literally "speak for itself!".

So you think all this Samsung product is all smoke and mirrors to get money from investors? I kind of agree. But when do you think we can get some real autonomous robots?
